The Playstation 3 has recently seen an influx of great titles that will continue to drive its popularity and give it an edge over the Xbox 360. While its competition has enjoyed a more robust game library to date, that is all about to change as the PS3 gets some big titles to give it a truly comprehensive game library of its own. The top PS3 games until now have been a long time coming, like Grand Theft Auto 4 and Metal Gear Solid 4. Other franchises like Killzone and Resistance had rocky first offerings, but the second title in each has vastly improved to dominate in reviews. Games like Resident Evil 5 and Final Fantasy XIII, not out quite yet, will give the Playstation 3 one of the most balanced and fun game libraries ever created.
Picking Up Speed
Admittedly, the top PS3 games until recently have been few and far between. All of that is changing as the Playstation 3 picks up some big name titles like Killzone 2 and Resident Evil 5, the latest installments in popular franchises. Not much in the way of innovative gameplay has come to the PS3, as is also the case for the Xbox 360. Instead, the big games now are mostly fine tuning winning formulas. Final Fantasy will be releasing its thirteen main title in a bit, for example, and you can expect the game to be fairly similar to all the rest, which is to say fantastic. However, it’s not all hopeless if you’re looking for something new and exciting in the top PS3 games.
For innovation, look no further than Little Big Planet, a quirky title that will amaze you. Compared to the plethora of other top PS3 games, this single title still manages to hold its own in terms of popularity, and its innovative features are sure to keep your playing for hours. Still, you’re likely only to find games that are very familiar, albeit more polished and better looking than ever before. One of the popular terms used nowadays in the game review industry is “innovative but not revolutionary,” which is true for most games being released today. Games like Spore, Little Big Planet, and Super Mario Galaxy are only released once in a great while, but when they are, they garner critical acclaim and the hard sales numbers to back them up. For the top PS3 games, you can’t do better than Killzone 2, GTA IV, and Final Fantasy XIII, but you’ll still have a blast playing most of the other titles.
