A Cultural and Social Look At Female Masturbation, Sex and The Effect of Sexual Relations
Attitudes towards sexual morality are very much conditioned by the culture, social morals and religions of countries. There are also different attitudes of morality for men and women. In Christian Western countries, and particularly in those imbued with Puritan Christian concepts, sex is looked upon as basically sinful and monogamy and abstinence as moral virtues.
In many other societies, for example Japan, sex never had the stigma of evil or the sense of guilt. What should be noted is that there are some countries where it is unwise to engage in extra-marital sexual or homosexual activities, since it is not unknown for foreign visitors, as a result of such encounters, to be blackmailed and then held to ransom for their company’s or government’s commercial or political secrets or for other reasons.
In a number of countries, particularly in the Middle East people are expected to respect local culture, traditions and laws. Acts of public affection between men, between women and between men and women, which includes embracing and kissing, constitute a public order offence which would lead to arrest and punishment. Other public order offences may include cross-dressing and topless sunbathing. In most countries sexual relations with a person under the age of consent is normally a criminal offence with varying degrees of punishment. The age of consent varies from country to country and in the United States even from State to State. A worldwide list of countries with the minimum age of consent for heterosexual, homosexual and lesbian relations has been published by an international AIDS charity.
In some Muslim countries extra-marital sexual and homosexual activities are punishable by death. One should also be aware of the operation of organisations such as The Women’s Rights activists in many countries. Some of these organisations would like to have sexual harassment defined
along lines proposed by the European Community Code which is: Unwanted conduct of a sexual nature or other conduct based on sex affecting the dignity of women and men at work, including unwelcome physical, verbal or non-verbal conduct.
