Many Americans do not realize what beauty lies in Central America. A lot of people simply take Central America for granted thinking that these places are not as exotic as Asia or as glamorous as Europe so when they plan their vacation, most people do not really consider travel to Central America seriously. What most of us to do realize is that Central America has some of the most interesting sites in the world. Anybody who has traveled to Central American can attest to the fact that this part of the world is a great place to be.
Mexico
If you are planning to travel around Central America, the best place to start your journey is Mexico. This Latin American country has a lot of historical and interesting places like Mayan temples, old churches, museums and the likes. The beaches around Mexico are some of the best in the whole world too. Yes, there has been some travel advisories issued by many governments around the world against Mexico because of the recent H1N1 virus in this area but that should not stop you from visiting Mexico in the future. A few months from now, the story of the H1N1 virus could be a thing in the past and we would have vaccines to protect us from the flu so do not cross out Mexico in your Central America travel plans.
Costa Rica
When drawing up your Central America travel itinerary, do not forget to put this country on top of your list. Costa Rica is one of the prime eco-tourism destinations in Central America and for good reasons. This place has lush green surroundings and pristine beaches. You can easily find a rental villa by beach around the Costa Rican countryside. Most of these villas are available on long term lease so if you are planning to stay for a few weeks or months in this lovely country, why not live in a villa by the sea?
Guatemala
If you are a history buff and you are looking for some great Mayan temples, you should never forget to visit Guatemala during your travel to Central America. This country has some of the best Maya sites in all of Latin America. You will definitely find a lot of interesting things around this country. Moreover, Guatemala is known for its unique culture and traditions so if you are planning to learn more about Latin Americans, the best place to start would be Guatemala.
