While well-known for its chronograph and diving watches(for example, highly popular Speeadmaster and Seamaster ), Omega also makes some complicated pieces and sophisticated tourbillon watches. Omega smartly skirts the difficulty and attaches the hands to a pair of sapphire crystals. The disks is drove by gearing set at the external parts of the case. And the gearing is of course an important part of the movement.
Beating inside the watch is the Omega Calibre 2636 that is developed from the 2002 Omega Caliber 2600B movement. This automatic movement, with 45-hour power reserve, is beautifully skeletonized ans assembled by hand. It has been COSC certified as well. And according Omega, the movement will be serviced only by the same person who initially assemble it. And I think that is part of the reasons behind this watch is strictly limited to just 18 numbered pieces.
As the name suggests, the watch is crafted from Platinum. Fitted with sapphire crystal at both sides, it is just water resistance. And with a whipping price at about 100,000, I do not think anyone will be willing to swim with this work of art.
