Even ET Has His Music
have always been fond of music. Everything around me, I hear music in it – the water dripping, the leaves rustling, cats meowing in unison – you name it. It’s as if music is literally my life. For me, it is something that can keep me calm when I am in a very bad mood. All I have to do is listen intently for anything that makes a rhythm or beat.
I am just an ordinary girl, living a pretty extraordinary life. I may have the opposite features of a super model – skinny, unruly hair, glasses, braces, unfashionable boots, a bike for a ride, t-shirts, and just plain jeans – and I may be geeky, but who cares? I have my own laboratory in my tree house my dad built ever since I could remember. And as the years passed, I decided I would transform it into my very own workplace of my own inventions.
Luckily, I’ve been able to mix my interests of music and inventions together. I’ve already made myself a gadget which catches every sound I hear from whatever surrounds me, and it automatically converts it into a beat or music. I call it the “MoodCatcher Player”. Why “MoodCatcher”? Well, it puts up a beat depending on my mood. As it catches unique sounds it picks up from the surroundings, it comes up with a beat and tempo based on my current mood. Let’s say I’m in a very happy mood, it makes up a music that is either pop or something with a very catchy tune. When I am angry, it transforms into a very rock type of music which is so loud that the beat moves along with the beating of my pulse I feel on my temples. Cool, isn’t it? Just from the sounds you hear from everything that surrounds you, it turns up a tune that suits whatever mood.
But sometimes, I stop and wonder if there are any other places in the universe that uses music as a mode of entertainment? Are the earthlings the only people who know what music is? It kept bugging me for these past few days while I drool in my boring History class. I always catch myself in a daze while wondering how it is like in other planets, talking with extra-terrestrial species about music. “Cool,” I thought to myself. So I got the idea of giving them a quick visit.
In this year 2019, transports to other planets have been a very common thing for humans. Well, mostly for scientists and geeks like me. But I haven’t tried doing so. And I think now is the time for me to pay them a visit. Very weird though why they don’t come over to Earth and pay us a visit. Probably, they find our planet really boring and so out to date in terms of technology. I’ve heard ET’s are very intellectual species. Scary, but fascinating. This is why it kept intriguing me what kind of life they live.
So, on a hot, Saturday afternoon, while others were hanging up with their “Super Cool” friends and enjoying the heat of the sun, I decided I’d have a trip of my own. To the space of the unknown. To somewhere I’ve never been to before.
