Cancer of the mouth may strike in different places inside the mouth. It may be the gums, lips, tongue etc. The first realization can be by way of changes noticed in the mouth tissues. These may start to feel different and may relate to the early symptoms. In most cases the cancer advances fast thus making the treatment somewhat ineffective for a permanent cure.
The symptoms are as listed below:
* In case there is a lump forming inside your mouth or there is thickening of the lining inside the mouth, it is likely to be mouth cancer.
* There may be a presence of a sore which was being neglected due to ignorance and which has been there for some period of time – points towards a cancerous growth.
* There is bad breath coming from the mouth in spite of good dental hygiene.
* Whitish or reddish patches inside the mouth.
* There is difficulty in chewing.
* Swallowing food becomes difficult and painful.
* Teeth start becoming loose.
* The whole jaw pains and a stiffness is noticed.
* There is noticeable pain in the tongue making it difficult to chew.
* A sore throat – changes in the voice.
In case any of the above symptoms continue beyond a period of 2-3 weeks, it is advisable to consult a dentist and detect the root cause. Early detection means early treatment. Do not take the easy way out by ignoring these symptoms. It is better to get it diagnosed than sit worrying and increasing stress levels.
