Andy Evans, the turning point

Andy Evans at the tender age of twelve witnessed his first auto race. The race he witnessed was a Can-Am event. This race too place in the year 1963. This race was a turning point in his life. He knew from that time what he wanted to become when he grew up. Unlike many kids who shared the same dream, he was able to make it a reality.

Racecar drivers started by paying their dues and that meant they will have to cover their expenses by themselves. These drivers started by taking part in small events with the hope that they will be build a rock solid reputation. This rock solid reputation is their ticket to one day race professionally. Andy Evans started his career this way. He had to haul his car from one race track to another. He also had to make sure that his engine was always in top shape. There were also the administrative duties that came with racing. The problem with new comers is that they had to fulfill these administrative duties by themselves.

Andy Evans felt that he could use his engine repairing skills to finance his racing career. So he started Scandia Engineering, an engine restoration firm. The firm allowed him to keep in touch with the latest in automotive engineering and also helped develop his career.

Through a lot sweat and hard work he was able to become a professional racecar driver. The International Motor Sports Association allowed him to join their ranks in the year 1990. Since he was considered to be a very promising driver, they allowed him to race on some of the world’s most famous race tracks. He however felt the need to start a team of his own. Thus he formed a team which he named as Team Scandia. He managed to convince many of the top racers at that time to join his team. With these drivers his team became a force to recon with.
