70% national TV coverage already – Radio project starts at IFA 2005
Most of the European population has today (July 2005) the facility of receiving the terrestrial digital DVB-T signal in their homes, and thus have a choice of around 30 TV broadcasting stations. In the light of this, DVB-T is already a success story, less than two years after its official initiation at the International Radio Exhibition (IFA) 2003 in Berlin.
Based on this success, and on the occasion of the IFA 2005, which this year opens its doors on 2nd September, the first comprehensive DVB-T radio project will be launched. From this date, a provisional, initial total of 30 radio stations will be able to be received. DVB-T products will therefore undergo significant further enhancement.
More than just a TV receiver – digital recorder, teletext and EPG included
The Freecom DVB-T USB stick offers much more besides convincingly sharp picture quality: in combination with the hard disk, it becomes a digital video recorder. In this case the user has the choice between “live” recording and convenient programming by means of the timer function. This is where the Electronic Programme Guide (EPG) comes into its own, which lists the complete TV schedule of all broadcasters, and provides brief descriptions of the individual programmes. The DVB-T USB stick can of course also receive teletext.
More than just another mobile device – a complete TV substitute
With the Freecom usb bluetooth wireless dongle, it will be possible in future to dispense with the old, outdated and space-consuming CRT televisions still found in millions of homes – their days appear to be numbered. The old “box” will gradually be replaced by a large TFT display and a tiny DVB-T receiver.
The Freecom DVB-T USB stick is available in shops now, and comes complete with external DVB-T antenna, CD-ROM (driver, multi-lingual manuals, etc.) antenna cable and operating instructions.
