Shalimar Ode a la Vanille – Vanilla Redux

In 1925, Guerlain created an ethereal fragrance that transcended generations and genres in the perfumery. Shalimar in Sanskrit means “temple of love”. Jacques Guerlain was inspired by the Indian Emperor Shah Jahan, who created a beautiful garden for his wife, Mumtaz Mahal. That inspiration blossomed into something exemplary, an extraordinary scent by the name of Shalimar.Shalimar is elegantly attractive and described as the epitome of femininity. Fresh floral accords, lush vanilla and opoponax meld together to form this oriental fragrance. Over the years, Shalimar has been re-interpreted not one but a number of times already. With each Shalimar reinvented, you’ll experience a different scent worth remembering.

Guerlain’s resident perfumer, Thierry Wasser, once again pays tribute to vanilla’s versatility. Shalimar Ode a la Vanille boasts vanillas from the islands of Madagascar and Mayotte. The luxurious blend features lemon, bergamot, Mayotte vanilla, jasmine, Madagascan vanilla, iris, frankincense, opoponax and Tonka bean. The vanilla in this fragrance is more amplified to say the least so expect a more velvety ambiance. The bottle pays tribute to the original Shalimar. It is housed in the same historical Shalimar bottle. The liquid glistens in the transparent urn bottle.Shalimar is truly a classic fragrance. It has been around for years and yet it has not lost its “touch”. The followers remained and the perfume house never fails to re-create the fragrance to complement the growing demands of perfumistas.
