Carbon Capture By Pre-Combustion And Post-Combustion

From the last several decades, the environmental issue has been a hot topic to conduct in the field of business of industrial perspective. However, many organizations are trying to produce their product in way so that it would not harm the environment. Day by day the talk about green environment is increasing and people are now more knowledgeable and concern about the future of world environment. One of these concerns is the control of CO2 in an environmental friendly way, so that it can be used in positive way. It is not impossible to assume that in the next hundreds years, the society will stop using fossil fuels. But it is not difficult to get a better idea to stop the current suicidal steps for the sake of next generation.
The process of capturing CO2 which is created in power plants and other industrial processes is becoming attractive day by day. This process of capturing CO2 is called Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS). It is becoming popular because of its environmental perspective. This approach of capturing CO2 is used to mitigate the global warming from fixed sources; for example: fossil fuel power plants and then it is stored instead of releasing into the atmosphere.
Then the next is done through using that captured CO2 for industrial processes (Capehart, 2007, p. 125). According to a report done in 2005,”the IPCC estimated that CCS applied to a modern conventional power plant could reduce CO2 emissions to the atmosphere by approximately 80-90% compared to a plant without CCS” (Singh, p.27).
In addition, there are also many other potential applications of CCS. In the natural gas production this captured CO2 is striped before being striped by tanker. Oil refineries which are used to make hydrogen also generate a portion of captured CO2. The conservation of coal and natural gas into liquid fuels is another result of CO2 releasing technology.
Production of pure stream of co2
“Coal is a fossil fuel formed from the decomposition of organic materials that have been subjected to geologic heat and pressure over millions of years.” (US Environmental Protection Agency, 2007). It is called a nonrenewable resource which cannot be replenished according to human time frame. Generally, coal is extracted from the underground mine and is often cleaned at the local coal mine to remove the impurities so that it can be used to the power plants. Finally at the power plant, it is burned in high temperature to produce steam.
Unminable coal seams have a greater use if it is used to store C02 because C02 adsorbs to the surface of the coal. However, this technique can be used only if the coal bed has permeability feature. The best way to capture CO2 could be done for stack gas from coal-power is to integrate the capturing facility.
