How to Make Your Own Water Filter
So you know how important it is to have clean, filtered water in your home but you would rather make your own water filter than go out and purchase one. It is actually quite easy to make your own water filter, and there are just a few steps involved that you are going to have to take care of.
How to do it
Okay so if you need to know how to make your own water filter, you are going to need to have some sort of a container to start with. This can really be in the shape of anything where you have an empty soda bottle or a Tupperware container. Now you want to punch about 5 to 10 holes around the bottom of the container, and cut the end of the bottle evenly.
Now the next step is going to be for you to fill the container up with layers of sand and gravel from the bottom to the top. These are basically going to work as the filtration system to filter out all the chemicals and byproducts from the water. For sand and gravel you want to make sure that you are using both fine and coarse layers, and the bigger the filter the more layers you can have in it and the better you are going to be.
Now you are going to have to collect some water that you are going to use to filter and then drink. Pour the water that you have collected into your make your own water filter and then it will go through the filtration system of the sand and gravel and go into another container that you are holding with your opposite hand.
It should be clear and if you notice that the water is still coming out murky, it probably means that you do not have enough sand and gravel in the first container so you are going to want to add in some more. This is the easiest way to make a water filter but keep in mind that there are various other methods that you can use as well. It all depends on who you are and where you have heard it.
Of course you can use this idea of how to make your own water filter right at home but this is also a great tip if you are ever out in the wilderness and need to filter water before you can drink it.
