Why do we name our child by a certain alphabet? This is a question which every astrologer is asked. The answer to this question according to Vedic Astrology is that there are 27 ‘Nakshatras’ (Constellations) consisting of 4 ‘Padas’ (Sub-parts). Each ‘Nakshatra’ changes in every 62 minutes and the ‘Pada’ in every 15 minutes. If we multiply 27 with 4 we get the magical figure of 108. It is said that we should recite every ‘Mantra’ 108 times by doing one ‘Mala’ (String of Beads). Because by reciting ‘Mantra’ for 108 times we touch every part of the Zodiac which consists of 27 ‘Nakshatras’. Each ‘Nakshatra’ has a certain alphabet associated with it. I will lay down the alphabets according to the ‘Rashi’ or Moon sign for your perusal so that you can name your child with the appropriate word.
There are two parts to this, first the alphabets are given and then certain names for reference. For various signs the alphabets are :
* Aries – ‘Choo’, ‘Che’, ‘Chau’, ‘La’, ‘Lee’, ‘Loo’, ‘Le’, ‘Lo’, ‘A’
* Taurus – ‘Ee’, ‘U’, ‘E’, ‘O’, ‘Va’, ‘Vi’, ‘Vu’ ‘Ve’, ‘Vo’
* Gemini – ‘K’, ‘Kee’, ‘Ku’, ‘Gh’, ‘Da’, ‘Cha’, ‘Ke’, ‘Ko’, ‘Ha’
* Cancer – ‘Hi’, ‘Hu’, ‘He’, ‘Ho’, ‘Da’, ‘Dee’, ‘Doo’, ‘De’, ‘Do’
* Leo – ‘Ma’, ‘Mee’, ‘Mu’, ‘Me’, ‘Mo’, ‘Ta’, ‘Tee’, ‘Tu’, ‘Te’
* Virgo – ‘To’, ‘Pa’, ‘Pee’, ‘Poo’, ‘Sha’, ‘Na’, ‘Tha’, ‘Pe’, ‘Po’
* Libra – ‘Ra’, ‘Ree’, ‘Roo’, ‘Re’, ‘Ro’, ‘Ta’, ‘Tee’, ‘Tu’, ‘Te’
* Scorpio – ‘To’, ‘Na’, ‘Nee’, ‘Noo’, ‘Ne’, ‘No’, ‘Ya’, ‘Yee’, ‘Yu’
* Sagittarius – ‘Ye’, ‘Yo’, ‘Bhaa’, ‘Bhee’, ‘Bhoo’, ‘Dha’, ‘Pha’, ‘Dha’, ‘Bhe’
* Capricorn – ‘Bho’, ‘Ja’, ‘Jee’, ‘Joo’, ‘Je’, ‘Jo’, ‘Kha’, ‘Khee’, ‘Khoo’, ‘Kh’,
‘Kho’, ‘Ga’, ‘Gee’
* Aquarius – ‘Goo’, ‘Ge’, ‘Go’, ‘Sa’, ‘See’, ‘Soo’, ‘Se’, ‘So’, ‘Da’
* Pisces – ‘Dee’, ‘Doo’, ‘Tha’, ‘Jha’,‘Tra’, ‘De’, ‘Do’, ‘Chaa’, ‘Chi’
Now, we further bifurcate above alphabets according to the ‘Nakshatras’ because this is the deciding factor for a particular alphabet as each ‘Pada’ has an alphabet attached to it. So first see the baby ‘Janam Nakshatra’ (Birth Constellation) alongwith the ‘Pada’ in the horoscope then accordingly decide the alphabet.
