Abandon your Ego – You have to not worry so much about what others think of you. The only thing you should be comparing is your own results to yourself. You can make sure that what you are doing is working. And that brings us around to my second tip.
Keep a journal – You will be able to see how far you have come. If you are not benefiting from an exercise, your progress journal will let you know. It’s also easy to start slacking off after you have been working out for a few weeks. One way to overcome this is to keep a pictorial journal. This can allow you to see how you look to other people. With this tool, you can become your own trainer and cheerleader. Ever found it easier to give advice to others? It is because you have a higher perspective. But when you are in amongst the trees yourself, it’s hard to see the whole forest. If you take pictures, you can then examine yourself objectively.
Remain Consistent – Make sure to put your all into each and every workout, and it’ll be like building your own temple. Don’t miss workouts, as you can’t ‘catch up’ like you think you can. You have to maintain consistency in order to get the results you want. Progress comes with expanding your workout to include what you didn’t think you could do. These kinds of changes need to be added in a safe manner; don’t change everything up at once.
Don’t worry about a partner; many insist that having a partner is a good thing. However, I have found that this can create dependency. Decide which days you will go to the gym and stick to it. Your workout is important so do it even when your partner cannot. Maintain proper form – You’re just shooting yourself in the foot if you cheat your way through your weightlifting routine. Look at Youtube videos to find proper forms for these exercise. After that, check yourself in the mirror during the exercise to verify good form.
