Nothin’ On You

Among the nominations for the 53rd Annual GRAMMY Awards which have been announced lately, The Award for Record of the Year is always my first focus each ceremony. The nominations of the year are Nothin’ On You by B.o.B & Bruno Mars, Love The Way You Lie by Eminem & Rihanna, F**k You by Cee Lo Green, Empire State Of Mind by Jay-Z & Alicia Keys and Need You Now by Lady Antebellum. Actually all the nominees are most outstanding in the past year. There are songs you would hear under the blue beam laser

rays at clubs while some heard in the shopping malls. In a word, each of them is definitely worth listening.

“Nothin’ on You” is the first single from B.o.B’s debut studio album, B.o.B Presents: The Adventures of Bobby Ray. And the song features singer Bruno Mars. On the stage with best laser pointer rays overhead, this song picked up a staggering 3 Grammy nods, including Record of the Year, Best Rap/Sung Collaboration, and Best Rap Song. This Music’s Biggest Night will be held February 13, 2011. “This year’s nominations are a true reflection of an exceptional and talented community of music makers that embody some of the highest levels of excellence and artistry in their respective fields,” said Neil Portnow, President/CEO of The Recording Academy. “It is most gratifying to see the GRAMMY Awards process once again produce a broad cross section of diverse and impressive nominees across multiple genres. Coupled with the third year of our primetime nominations special, the road to Music’s Biggest Night, the 53rd Annual GRAMMY Awards in February, is off to an exciting start.” For us music fans, it will be a grand ceremony for this year. I think all the fans must be on the tiptoe of expectation.

I first found this song “Nothin’ on You” when searching for a black laster pointer  on the net. When I opened the website of an online shop which supplied Wholesale electronics at low price, this single came up and I was attracted by it at once. I booked B.o.B’s album with a  pen. I love this song! The singing and rapping are awesome quality; Uplifting beat and fun lyrics. Since I received the CD, I had played it over and over. And it had lain in my iPod for the whole year already.

The single has made a commercial success. It reached the number 1 in the Dutch Top 40, making the Netherlands the first country where it reached the number 1. The single was also certified Platinum by the RIAA on April 16, 2010, and reached the number one position on the Billboard Hot 100 for the week ending May 1, 2010. As of June 28, 2010 the single has achieved double platinum status. The single debuted on the UK Singles Chart on May 23, 2010, at number one with sales of 85,333 copies, replacing Roll Deep’s “Good Times”. The single also debuted at number one on the UK R&B Chart.

On the whole, this single is really catchy with its fat ‘n’ satisfying beats, dreamy piano line and brilliant hook, courtesy of fellow newcomer Bruno Mars. It might not be the last winner in Grammy but it’s all so goddamn catchy you’d be a fool to give a hoot.
