In order to keep with that tradition
For the past four years, with the help the local tennis playing community, the Eastern Athletic Club in Blue Point, N.Y. has held its very successful Kris Kringle Holiday Tennis Party with all proceeds being donated to local families who are in desperate need of help. This year, the event will be held on Saturday, Dec. 4th at Eastern Athletic Club in Blue Point, N.Y. beginning at 8:00 p.m.
Since starting the charity party four years ago, the event has been able to add more players, more donations and raffle off more prizes than in previous years. In order to keep with that tradition, the help of the local tennis community is needed. The charity party has only become a success because of the generosity that Long Island tennis players have shown during previous years.
The “Kris Kringle” fundraiser helps Long Island families who are in dire straits. During the past, many families have been assisted, including assisting a family in paying for home heating during the winter; assisting a single mother, whose husband had left abruptly in paying for items to be used by her two young children;tiffany jewellery and enough funds were even raised to allow a family to keep their home that was about to be foreclosed upon. In each situation these families have used the money that was donated to springboard into a better, safer and more positive future. The sad fact is, during this holiday season, while most dwell on playing a bad set of tennis or double faulting a game away, these families are worried that they might not even be able to stay together for the remainder of the year; or the idea of not knowing if or when they may be able to have a warm meal again. With your help, these families will be able to alleviate these concerns and start 2011 knowing that people really care and life can only get better.
The fee for the party will be $40, with all proceeds going directly toward the charity. Provided will be food, beer, wine, soda, water, and of course, great tennis! In addition, there will be some great prizes raffled off, including a trip to Total Tennis Camp, Tiffany’s tennis charms, tennis bags, lessons with club pros, restaurant gift certificates, gift baskets, and possibly, with the help of Justin Gimelstob, autographed tennis balls from past and present tennis champions!
