Gloria Anzaldua Womanist View
Gloria wrote in the favor of the women by trying to figure out their exact place in the society. In the first story, “The Journey: Path of Conocimient” she discusses the why the women are being taken as granted and this is all because the women have degraded their life style. She believes that women have isolated themselves as the culture in which they live in determines. The women do everything just because they are being dictated to do this by their cultural and societal aspects. The women most of times have to just fight for their rights like the gay males who are not considered a part of the normal society. According to Gloria, the reason for all these things is the way women have adjusted to the situations and the requirements. They have considerably blocked the way they think and act according to the terms and conditions that are set upon them.
Gloria critically analyzes the ways by which women can bring themselves back on the track. She discusses that women should try to observe their abilities and establish certain standards of their lives. They must not act like the way they are doing now. The distribution of intelligence is the same for the humans and they have the required level to critically dignify themselves. They should move into gaining more knowledge and understanding of the cultures and traditions. The need of the time is to understand their inner self by having spiritual acknowledgement of their powers.
Women are considered as the weak partners of life. This trend has to be changed right now. The changing of the women behavior will take time but this process must start now. The women should try to soothe themselves. They should rewrite the ways which they performed previously for their losses. The stories should become strong in the interpersonal skills and no one should know women with the stereotyping (Anzaldua, 1996).
Gloria also states that the there are seven stages of conocimiento, a Latin word meaning to know, and the women dies and reborn in each of those steps to find out themselves. The price of freedom is not that cheap. Gloria determines that the women are weak emotionally and at times they tend to crack and show off their fears. The women should try to admit these fears as important parts of their personality and must not move away from these fears because this is how they will try to evaluate their whole personality. The transformation of the women in the society will help them make a better future and better understanding with other important parts of the society (Anzaldua, 1996). The gender roles are devised by the males and until recent past, the whole thing has gone against the females where women were considered as the domestically active and were not even allowed to move out of their homes. Nowadays, women are taking active part in all the parts of the society from the jobs to become the politicians
