Mayflower Compact And A Model Of Christian Charity
Apparently, the Pilgrims and the Puritans have so many differences in terms of their social class and organization. The Puritans are individuals whose beliefs are certainly founded on moral theological conditions and as such involves the belief founded solidly on what is being taught by the scriptures. Hence, it can be seen that while the Puritans hold strongly to the belief of one body unified under the scriptures and the obedience to what has been vested under the law; the Pilgrims on the other hand wants to establish a new form of government that will surely bring forth the accomplishment to which the society is founded from. But then again, it can be seen that even if the Pilgrims wanted a new form of society, their adherence to their King is still intact. Nonetheless, both the Pilgrims and the Puritans are both influenced greatly by their religion as proven by the fact that their undertakings are all affected by what the scriptures are telling them. The principles are founded on it and it seems like it will be hard to break even if they sail away and find new societies where their government can be founded too.
Show the difference between the Pilgrims and the Puritans on social class and organization. As show, both class and organization was created in so far as Christianity is concerned. The Mayflower compact was established and signed in order to built and somewhat recognize the role of the rights of every person. Apparently, there came a point in time wherein there were people in the government that were practicing corruption and evil works. In this regard, the Mayflower compact as well as the Model of Christian Charity were both signed not just to promote the declaration of independence but rather to restrain the evil acts in the society and adhere to the laws instead. In addition to this, it has been clearly stated in the model and in the compact that no person is highly recognized over another and that they are all to walk in brotherly love and in unity. Meaning to say, there is equality among each member of the society. In this way, all acts and undertakings that are being followed and done is in accordance to such kind of principle. There is no other way but for each member to become their brother’s keeper. Each has their own respective needs but the more important thing of it all is being able to help provide for their fellowmen in order to achieve a good society and to live a better life as well.
Upon Some Distemper of the Body by Bradstreet
It cannot be denied that the puritan belief is about working together and be one under one faith surrounding Christianity. But it can be seen in the poem of Bradstreet entitled “Upon Some Distemper of the Body” it can fairly well be adduced that the unity and brotherhood that are being formed under the puritan belief has completely vanished.
