Waterproofing Takes Me by Surprise
I attended a party just last week and found out something of utmost importance in my life. A few friends were talking and because we were all goal-grabbers and professionals, we had one thing in common. We went after our own dreams and most of our dreams consisted of owning a house.
So we were talking about our houses and the experiences we encountered during the building phase. One friend mentioned about basement waterproofing systems that he had applied in the basement and how it proved to be functional and important. Since I’m not the technical kind of girl, the word waterproofing means absolutely nothing so I just stayed there and listened.
When I got home, I couldn’t sleep knowing I didn’t know what basement waterproofing or waterproofing meant. With Google as my ally, I searched away.
Apparently, waterproofing meant to protect a certain thing from damp or anything wet. It preserves the quality of the item and gives it a longer lifespan. I learned that when you have basements, it is crucial to apply waterproofing techniques to avoid the formation of mold and mildew from the dampness and to avoid slowly destroying the structure altogether. I also learned that damp proofing or any type of waterproofing is a must in any foundation built – even decks need to be waterproofed!
I was alarmed and panic mode was on. I quickly contacted building preservation companies the following day to seek help with this matter. Luckily, they came to my rescue and educated me on the different structural solutions and the best waterproofing methods we can use. They quickly set up what was needed and had it good to go a couple of days later.
I consider my house to be one of my most prized possessions – with its price, it definitely should be. The thought of it being destroyed due to pure neglect is something I simply can’t take. With waterproofing techniques in place, I can go back to sleeping soundly knowing everything is kept safe and unharmed.
