Wooden Bunk Beds – Save Space
A wood bunk bed is a type of bed made of wood; two beds are made and one is stacked on top of the other. When two beds are stacked together this way, they form a bunk bed. These types of beds are used in places where the floor space is limited. Bunk beds allow people to sleep on beds in the same room while using minimum space in the room. If your room is congested and you are sharing it with your smaller brother, well, a bunk bed is the solution for your problems. It will create extra space, in that the space that was occupied by the two beds will be available and you can be able to bring in your computer desk and work on your homework in your room. Bunk beds are usually used in places having limited floor space like army garrisons, school dormitories, prison cells and student’s hostel.
These types of beds have four poles and one poles is situated at each corner of the bed. A ladder is used to get to the second or top bunk although some creative kids find other ways of getting to the top bunk without using the ladder. Railings are usually installed in all the top beds in bunks and they act as security to secure the person sleeping in the top bunk from falling out of the top bunk while asleep. Some of these beds have privacy curtains installed in the bottom bunk. The top bunk beds are not meant for children especially those who are under the age of six years and ceiling fans are also not required in rooms having bunk beds.
There are many types of the wooden bunk beds. The standard bunk bed is the most common type of bunk bed and has two mattresses of the same size that are stacked together with one directly over another. The other type of bunk bed is the twin over full bunk bed, which is arranged like the standard one but the upper mattress will be twin sized and the bottom mattress will be full sized.
The futon bunk bed is also arranged like the standard bunk bed but the lower bunk is designed like western style futon couch, which can convert into a bed and this is better than the standard mattress. These kind of beds can be used to save space if one lives in a small apartment or single room because the lower bunk can convert into a couch to be used during the day. In L-shaped bunks, the bed at the bottom is placed in such a way that it is at a right angle to the top bunk so that when you view the bed from above, it forms an L-shape. These bunk beds are the best solution for a family living in a house that has limited space and they are safe for use by children because they are fitted with safety rails and if they are not, you can always fit them yourself.
