Reviewing the Standard QC-S300 10-Bin Friction Feed Collator
Collating your documents is often a necessary task, but it can take a long time to do so manually. That’s why there are machines such as the Standard QC-S300 10-Bin Friction Feed Collator. Here’s a close look at this machine so you can learn how it can help you out and what, if anything, could be improved.
- The QC-S300 comes with a tower consisting of 10 bins. Each bin can hold over 200 sheets of 20 lb. bond paper which is just about half a ream. You can use paper of varying sizes with this device with the smallest being 5.5” x 6.9” and the largest being 12” x 17”.
- This machine can collate up to 3,900 5-sheet sets in one hour so long as you’re working with letter-sized paper. If you want to work with larger paper, such as 11” x 17” sheets, you can process up to 2,100 sets in the same amount of time. The machine will even stack them for you.
- If you find that you need more than 10 bins, you can add two more towers consisting of 10 bins each. If you do that you’ll be able to collate a whole bunch of paper quickly.
- One thing you’ll want to keep in mind about this machine is that you may have difficulties collating glossy paper with it. That’s because the device utilizes a friction feeder that can’t easily grip glossy stock and if it tries to do so, a jam may occur.
- The QC-S300 is easy to use thanks to a full-color touchscreen display. The touchscreen is very intuitive so you’ll be using the machine like a pro in no time. Also, this device will alert you if there are any problems such as a paper jam, open transport door, and so on.
- This machine isn’t too large so finding room for it should be pretty easy. Its dimensions are 23.3” (width) x 19.5” (depth) x 39.4” (height) so it will easily fit on a table or counter. However, you’ll need to be careful when moving it because it weighs 139 pounds.
- There are a lot of great accessories available for this machine including the PS-P61 corner stapler and the F40 booklet maker. You can even purchase the MT100, which is a collator stand. All of these products will provide you with everything you need to process all of your documents in-house.
- The QC-S300 doesn’t have the best warranty in the world. It only lasts for 90 days.
The QC-S300 is another great collator from Standard and it’s one that would be helpful in mail rooms, print shops, and other environments in which large volumes of paper are processed on a daily basis. This machine’s collating capacity is remarkable and you’ll be able to use it to process sheets of different sizes and weights. (Just try to avoid running glossy stock through it.) You’ll find this collator easy to use thanks to its touchscreen display and you can also get some great accessories to get the most of this device. It would be nice if the QC-S300 had a better warranty, but overall this is a great machine. Be sure to take a look at it today.
