Career Advice For Young People – Why Are Our Students Revolting?
Careers advice for young people has never been as popular especially when the UK government plans to triple University Fees.
How can we aid our students with expert careers advice and jobs advice in these uncertain times?
Students are objecting about the colossal increase in tuition fees and who can blame them. At present the cap on tuition fees is close to nine thousand pounds or fourteen thousand US dollars, if this triples then students will commence work with a debt of at least 27,000 pounds which will take them years to pay off.
The other headache is that students have a tough time when they graduate to find a job with a well paid salary as the days of graduating and being almost guaranteed a great high paid position are finished.
The recession does not help and we need to find some way of assisting our students so that they do not become dismayed before they even start work. It will also have the effect of putting off poorer students who come from working class families as they will not see the advantage of obtaining a degree with such controversial expenditure before they even begin employment.
One way of helping them is to think uporiginal and unusual ways of applying for jobs so that they stand out from the crowd. If a student has something affirmative and dynamic about them and can go the extra mile when looking for jobs then they will pay of this debt much quicker than others who just send in a resume hoping for an interview.
Making a podcast about themselves or even interviewing people in their chosen career path can open many doors to that highly paid dream job to get rid of that debt and make the money they deserve after all of their hard work.
