Happiness Life
Life indeed, is like a big parable and it is the endless effort of competing for the scarce and ever diminishing resources that makes human beings ever be in pursuit for the resources, which will never be enough. When I left my country, Hong Kong in china, to come to America, I had many aspirations of making life better as well as uplifting the living standards of my family. As Pericles describes the Athenian life where every body played a positive role in the society, back at home things were a bit different in that the stiff competition for the resources was very evident and competitive. Leaving china, my mother country was not easy task to me and the family. The out most attributes that were really needed before making such decision took time and wide gathering of relevant information. One, I had to figure out how I would be perceived by people whom we are not from the same race, how they treat foreigners among many other issues that were really disturbing. And as Pericles puts it, one needs courage and determination in our endeavors. These words really encouraged me and kept me psyched to face what I had never faced. Courage was required in that not all people will be welcoming to you. For the balanced societies, the expectations are always that people with diverse characters will be found within such societies. And this one I experienced whereby some were vey welcoming while others were not ( John, 2008).
To me , freedom is utmost an important virtue in life, and without it, we will be so much limited and tied up from doing our own things or issues that we value most. It will limit the much e can engage in business, education, social interaction to mention but just a few. Happiness on the other hand can not be achieved when freedom is denied. I mean how can we pretend to be happy when what we are demanding for is not provided? Happiness will thus depend on how much freed we are and the way we are treated by our superiors. Courage is like the driving force and it is impetus to achieving most of what we desire. Even as Pericles puts it, the Athenian army would win because of courage. He emphasizes its importance which to me also applies for we can achieve very little without courage. Though freedom being a complex field and which will ever continue being demanded by majority, my view is that most people assign it different meaning depending on what they want to achieve or how they perceive it. Looking at what Pericles believed in that was” being the rightful lord and owner of his person”. This will appear to be a bit confusing since when we talk a bout freedom, we should also remember that we must act and behave within the law which to me this will not be the same as being your lord since there are some issues you can not go beyond.vital and more so to people who are new to certain places. It would be difficult for you to survive in a place you are not very popular if you don’t believe in your self.
