Organize Your Kitchen and Enjoy the Benefits
It is very easy to allow your kitchen’s organization to fall apart. While you may have very good intentions it is inevitable that sooner or later your kitchen will become cluttered and very unorganized.
In order to regain order in the kitchen, you should take inventory. Pull all of the items out of your cupboards such as those plastic food storage containers you have been accumulating as well as all of your pots, pans, kitchen gadgets and linens. Place items into groups of those things you use and those which you never use. Donate or toss out unused items and those things you have duplicates of. If anything is broken, throw it out. Those cooking pots without lids and handles for instance are probably useless to you so get rid of them.
As you put items back into the cupboards, create zones. For instance group all of your food storage containers in one cupboard, your frying pans in another and so forth. Be sure to store pots and pans close to the stove for easy access. Those items you use for eating should be closer to the sink, refrigerator and dishwasher. Put spices on wall-mounted racks near the stove and create a place near the stove-top for things you use daily such as cooking oils and cutting boards.
You probably have a favorite frying pan or two you use daily as well as pots you favor. Consider buying kitchen hangers for these. Pot racks which are mounted from the ceiling come in a wide variety of styles and finishes. These are perfect as they give you very easy access to all your favorites. Regardless of they type of kitchen décor you have you are sure to find one that will look great. You could also buy small rods that attached to the back-splash area that come with small hangers for keeping large utensils and things like tea strainers within easy access.
Instead of lining up cookbooks on kitchen counters where they take up much-needed space, consider buying a few of those new, low-profile shelves that are only two to three inches deep. Your favorite cookbooks will look wonderful this way and they will be right there when you need to reference something quickly.
A well organized kitchen will go far in making food prep time a pleasant experience. Not only will you know exactly where everything is, but your kitchen will look much larger and more cozy when everything is in its place.
