Running Out From San Jose CA Hotels
Running is in my blood. So, instead of being ashamed of my passion for running and my passion for great hotels, I’ve decided to write about both — at the same time. Content is content. In this case, my content is about two things: running and San Jose CA hotels. What do these two things have in common? Bay Area marathons!
Now, for marathon runners, the City by the Bay has quietly become something like a go-to destination. Given its mild, slightly damp climate, the city lends itself to non-strenuous jogging and half-marathons. What is a half-marathon? Take the 26 ubiquitous miles of a marathon and cut them in half. Voila.
Of course, there are half-marathons being run practically all year around. Beginning in February and ending in October, if you’ve got a penchant for jogging, you won’t be disappointed. Well, actually, you may be disappointed by the cost of room and board in the City. That’s why more and more runners are opting to stay in nearby San Jose.
Are you getting the big picture? If you’re feeling particularly up to it, you may want to have a crack at the Santa Cruz half marathon in April. Given that the course is mapped out along the Pacific Ocean, runners are afforded incredible views of the Pacific Ocean. Any seasoned runner will tell you, if you can zone out and get caught up in something like the view, all the better.
Obviously, the marquee half-marathon event is the Golden Gate Bridge Run held in July of each year. And yes, as the name implies, the run is along the entirety of the Golden Gate Bridge. So, you can expect to zone out for the entire length of the race. Just be sure you’re wearing a decent pair of running shoes, as the Bridge has been known to cause shin splints.
Put on your best pair of running sneakers and book a room in any of the accommodating San Jose CA hotels you can find. It’s always running seasons out here!
