There are many foods for constipation available that one can eat in order to relieve their constipation symptoms. There are even more foods out there that actually worsen your constipation. So before we discuss which are good foods for constipation, let’s go into what constipation is and what foods you should stay away from first.
So what is constipation?
As many constipation sufferers already know, constipation is defined as the condition in which one has only three bowel movements or less per week. Sufferers often feel bloated, gassy, airy, full, and clogged up internally. When they do pass a stool, it is usually hard and dry, and oftentimes difficult to pass.
Although there are many factors contributing to how often one should pass a bowel movement, including how often one eats, what one eats, etc., it is a common rule that stool should be passed regularly, usually once daily. Our bodies must pass waste to eliminate excess rubbish and toxins from within. When our bodies do not do that, we have excess toxic substance contaminating not only our digestive system, but every system in the human anatomy.
We have all had issues with constipation at one point or another. Most people just have a temporary case that lasts only a few days or a few weeks max. However, there are some chronic constipation sufferers out there who rarely pass bowel movements on a regular basis.
What causes constipation?
One of the leading causes of constipation is inappropriate diet, and usually one that lacks enough fiber. Some of the bad foods for constipation include fatty foods, fast foods, fried foods, cakes, excessive amounts of dairy, excessive amounts of beef and pork, fish, some wheat products, and certain beans.
Now, I know what you’re thinking. “But all of those foods are supposed to be good foods for constipation and for my body, aren’t they?!” Well yes, they are good for you. They are very good for you. But any of those foods taken in excess and without adequate amounts of fiber can lead to constipation.
Good Foods For Constipation
Here is a short list of good foods for constipation: fruits, salad, whole-grain bread, raw vegetables, peanuts, cashews, corn, and prunes. Also, it is extremely important that one drinks at least eight 8-ounce glasses of water every day, in addition to a regular exercise routine.
So with proper diet of the good foods for constipation, adequate fiber and water intake, in addition to a routine exercise regime, one can relieve constipation quite easily.
