Summer Internship Program
Being of Indian descent, I can appreciate the educational opportunity available to me in America and the promise of hope and success it has the potential to provide. As a developing nation India continues to lack the educational structure and career opportunities readily available to those who seek it as in America. Ours is a nation still relatively young and in the first stages of capitalism but due to many natural resources and an abundance of people power, has the prospective to be an economic power and to be financially independent. I want to be a part of that and I am hopeful that my studies in America will prepare me to be someone with the skills and knowledge my country will need to be successful in the same way America is.
My family immigrated to America like so many others seeking gold paved streets and a piece of the abundance that is America. I know now that these things don’t come as easily as they seem and that only with hard word, strict discipline and the drive to succeed can I achieve my dreams. I have watched my parents struggle daily to provide me with the opportunities they never had for themselves and I believe that as I pursue my educational goals, I can make them proud, meet my own personal objectives and be a benefit to society. I am a junior currently attending Menlo College for Business, and am interested in attending the San Francisco program in accounting. I feel this internship will help provide me with the knowledge needed to be on top of my field and the immersion in business will give me the edge I need to compete in the business world successfully.
I know what having a degree from an American university means and I believe that it will equip me with the skills I will need to contribute to society in a meaningful manner. It will help me in my time now at Menlo College by providing me with the background needed to enhance my studies and help my colleagues and it will help me in India where it will help give my work meaning. Knowing that I was able to seize every educational opportunity available to me in America and put them to use in a developing nation means that I can be a good representative of America and a good citizen of India, bringing together two sides of my identity and bringing together two nations across the world.
