The Basseri: An Ancient Presentation Of Civilization Among Ethnic Tribes
Being the ancient group of civilization in Southern Persia, the Basseri has been noted to be among the earliest group of people who discovered the right procedures needed to assess their environment and use the things and the systems around them to the best of their benefits. It could be observed that through history, these people tried to create the best possible procedures to utilize the things around them to work well for the development of their lifestyle.
Reading through the history of the Basseri tribe, one would be able to see the fact that the ancient human civilizations naturally thought the best with regards the environment that they are living in making it possible for them to develop the earliest systems of technology that would best work for their interests as inhabitants of the land. Besides that, the history of these people actually shows how political systems primarily began in the ancient years of human civilization and how that particular system of authority assisted the entire society in facing the different issues of economic advancement as well as social systems that sustained the life of the people within the communities.
(a) Early Technology
The beginning of the lives of the Basseri situated them in different areas around Southern Persia as nomads. They were moving every now and then due to the changing climate and the changing status of the land where they usually choose to stay in. However, when they reached Shiraz, the tribe decided to settle down in the area. Likely, this is because of the fact that they were able to see the benefits that they would be able to get from the land and the possible sustenance that the said area could provide them.
However, although the land was fertile and likely conducive to agricultural procedures as well as pasteurizing needs, the land also had some difficult issues that made it certain for the tribe to find possible ways to deal with the situation rather than simply running away to another place again. As a result, the tribe was able to find the right ways possible to create an artificial irrigation system that would direct the natural water sources such as rivers and lakes around the area towards their agricultural lands.
Through this particular system, they were rather able to assure that the plants they are cultivating would grow well and rather be supported by all the water that they needed even during the drastic drought that happens in the area during specific seasons of the year.
“There were series of wells that are connected by aqueducts whereby the groundwater of higher areas is brought out to the lower parts of the valley” (Chapter 1: 3)
(B) Early Systems of Politics and Social Authority
Like other ethnic groups, the Basseri tribe recognized the authority of one particular elder who are designated to rule over the community.
