Teen Driving

Driving is a complex and mentally demanding task which require higher level of perception and motor skills. Due to its complexity it requires a strong perception and vision which lack in teens. Today, teen driving has become the most emerging issue. It has created so many problems and deaths in the society that it is a need of hour to cope with this social issue.
It has been viewed that mostly the teenagers are the one who violates the rules and regulations due to which serious consequences occurs. Nowadays, majority of the parents allow their young children to drive knowing that it will be very harmful not only for them but also for other people. In most of the times, teenagers drive the motor vehicle before passing the driving test. This non-serious behavior towards a great issue creates a lot of deaths on the roads. They do not wait for the age which permits them a license of driving. Sometimes, the teen drivers learn driving before the age of maturity. These are the teenagers who are only responsible for the deaths of the other teenagers. They drive too fast that they become the cause of accidents on the roads. Studies have shown that 37 percent of crashes on the roads involve the 16 year old teenage drivers (Aaseng, 2000). Not only this, researches have proved that the several dangerous consequences are associated with teen driving. It is just because the teens lack the psychological and physiological maturity. Due to this reason they cannot safely manage risk and hazardous driving conditions (Aksomitis, 2008). They do not realize that how dangerous driving is. They take it very lightly. They mostly violate traffic signs and signals. Another reason for high crash rates of teen driving is that they are at a life stage in which they believe they are invincible. This type of mindset is the major problem of the today’s teenagers. It is a very dangerous attitude for inexperienced drivers. Sometimes, their parents also consider them as an exceptional case. Due to their immaturity, they overtake vehicles in a risky manner. In addition to this, teens are attracted more towards the risks and less likely to take the precautions such as wearing seatbelts. This violation of rules also causes the serious crashes and accidents. There are several other factors which take teen drivers more towards the crashes. Teenagers use cell phone and listens music more than the other age groups people. These things are the biggest cause of the destruction and contribute significantly to car crashes. Most teens usually go out at nights with their friends. They drink and drive the vehicle at a high speed. Driving in a drunk state is a very dangerous. It increases the risks of car accidents, highway injuries and vehicular deaths.
Due to the seriousness of this issue, it has become very important that it should be reported and handled in a better way.
