This tells the trekker how difficult it is, according to people who have previously completed it. It is important you carefully analyse the trek before you set foot.
Some people like to push themselves to the limit when trekking, but river trekking is a completely different ball game, the dangers associated with it are significantly higher. You should never go on a trek that you are uncomfortable with because things can turn bad very quickly. If you are not assured with the skills required for a certain river trek it can become very dangerous.
You will have fun and stay safe when river trekking if you can closely identify the skills required before setting out. It is also highly recommended that you travel with at least 1 other person just as capable as you when it comes to river trekking.
