Van Gogh and Much-two crazy artists

When we mention the crazy artist, every one would first think of Van Gogh, howevery, Munch is also a crazy painter. Both of these artists were known to suffer from mental illness. Munch had bi-polar disorder and Van Gogh suffered from paranoia. They both suffered in ways which we can not understand, but how dit this show up in their artworks?

When comparing Munch paintings and Van Gogh paintings, Munch painting is more disturebed than Van Gogh paintings. As a matter of fact, Van Gogh was an influence for Munch. He painted emotion which were dark and “negative” and his work had a depth of sorrow and madness to it that may be unsurpassed. On the other hand, while Van Gogh’s paintings were often somber and we can not see this in Munch’s work.

Munch’s paintings symolize our modern feeling of despair and hopeless. One of this famous painting is the scream which has become an icon of the world today.

Paintings were part of Munch’s therapy, according to his doctors, paintings is good for him to express his feelings while in the asylum.

Each person and their experience is different, so it is difficult to compare mental illness.  However, it is obvious that mental illness and insanity can not stop geniuses from creating masterpieces.
