Electrical course attendees may be needed for refurb of housing

A government official has called for every house in the country to be refurbished in order to be more energy efficient, which could mean plenty of employment opportunities for workers taking electrical courses.

Minister of state for energy and climate change Gregory Barker MP recently told an audience at the Great British Refurb event that it is a huge idea he is proposing.

He stressed there are all sorts of basic measures such as loft insulation that should be undertaken, but he believes more innovations will come to light, which could involve work for technicians who have completed electrical courses.

Mr Barker said: “This will not only drive billions of pounds into reinvesting in our housing stock, improving it for millions of people, but will also create green jobs as well.”

The Great British Refurb was an online seminar held on October 21st 2010, with the government official leading the occasion with television presenter Kevin McCloud.
