Electrical courses could keep employees happy
Employees may be satisfied in their jobs for longer if they are given training opportunities – such as electrical courses – that could be used in other roles.
This is the view of Mike Petrook, a spokesperson for the Chartered Management Institute, who cited research by the organisation showing that 97 per cent of workers value the chance to develop their abilities.
He concluded that people want “transferable skills” that could be useful for future employment opportunities, which could mean more companies sign their staff up to electrical courses.
“They want to be able to do the job that they do at the moment, but take those skills with them to another job in a few years’ time,” said Mr Petrook.
The CMI representative accepted that money will always be a factor in an employee’s happiness at work, since everyone has bills to pay, but training may also be important.
His comments were made in response to a CBI and Harvey Nash report suggesting maintaining staff morale in 2011 may be difficult.
