Prosper Learning Review by Joel
This is my Prosper Learning Review as a Prosper Learning Student.
In September, I purchased some Robert Allen eBooks. About 2 weeks later I received a call from Jay Havili, as part of Robert Allen’s success team. Jay told us about their program that they are offering to a few selected individuals, and wanted to see if we would be their next success story. But before being accepted they needed to be sure that we would be an asset, and not a liability. He talked about Robert Allen’s challenges, the one from the Mayor of a small St. Louis town, where he took 3 people out of the unemployment line, and helped them make money and they had $5000+ in their banks at the end of 90 days.
He also talked about people like Donald Trump, and how he uses other people’s money to make his money, and they were going to show us how to do that too. One of the challenges he gave us before passing us up to his senior executive Mr. Nick Masina or prosper Learning, was to get our credit cards limits increased. We had our card limit increased to $9000, and then we were passed on to Nick. They used every trick in the book to act on our subconscious to get the results they wanted, which was to buy their program, and be their next success story.
Nick told us of all the wonderful results that their students can expect, and wanted to know if we wanted to be a part of that. There were only “limited spaces”, and this was a now or never kind of deal. We came at a very high recommendation from Jay, and apparently that doesn’t happen very often.
We were sold the eCommerce program, and from what I understood from what Nick said, was that we would have unlimited access to our Prosper Learning coach, and their resource line for help when we needed it. The resource line was only open until 6pm, and the few times that I did call in, they were never helpful anyways.
I foolishly paid $10 000+ for a program, and information that I could have found elsewhere on the internet for FREE. Nick made everything seem so easily achievable, and all we needed was the help of Prosper Learning to get us going in the right direction.
We accepted the program, expecting something COMPLETELY opposite than what the program really was. Nick said, “best case scenario you’ll make your overhead back within the first month. Worst case scenario is that you won’t make it back within the first year, but our guarantee to you is that we’ll continue working with you for another year after that free of charge.”
The contract we signed, left us with no rights to a cancellation, nor a refund. We had 3 days from the time we received our reading materials to opt out of the program and get a refund. Days before our first coaching session, and before we even knew what we were really getting into.
My first coaching session consisted of “getting to know” my coach Brian Bollard. At the end of it he left me with some homework, some reading, to register a business entity, and to sell 10 items on eBay ASAP. “It could take months to get your site up and running, so I want to start making some money as soon as possible.” Wait a minute, WHAT!?!
That’s not what I expected from the hard sell phone call from Nick. I expected that I would have a site up and running and making me money by the end of the first month, not SEVERAL months. I did my homework, and waiting until our next session the following week. The second session consisted of asking if I did my homework, and then deciding on what products I want to sell. The coaching sessions lasted no longer than 30 mintues, so any questions that I might think of afterward, I had to wait until the following week.
That was what the Prosper Learning resource line was for, HELP outside of the coaching sessions when my coach was unavailable. I called in a few times, the first time I called, I asked the girl my questions, who was unable to answer them, (and when I finally got to ask my coach he was unable to answer as well.
Funny, since he was supposed to be an “expert”.) Then I asked the girl “is my coach going to hold my hand through all of this?” she replied “this is a self driven course.” That is the LAST response I would expect from them when I paid serveral THOUSANDS of dollars for HELP when I needed it. The next time I called in, I wasn’t connected directly to the resource line, I had to leave a message, and hoped that they would call back while I was still able to work on my site.
The emails I sent to my coach outside of our scheduled coaching sessions went unanswered until the next session, and at that point I had figured it out on my own. Again I paid thousands of dollars for help from the “experts” when I needed it, and I never experienced that.
Then my husband ended up breaking his wrist, and is now unable to work, so I had to go back to work. That was the exact reason I signed up with Prosper Learning in the first place, so that I WOULDN’T have to go back to work. Unfortunately after my 5 coaching sessions, I still didn’t have a website up and running, much less making money to pay monthly credit card bills, and keep me from going back to work. With my husband home I ended up having to go back anyways.
I then contacted Prosper about canceling our program, as things have come up, and it isn’t working for us, not what we expected etc. I was connected with Ryan in the Student Care Center, who said “utilize the services given to you, and you did agree to make the payments.” I agreed to make the payments and use the services thinking that I would have a website making me money. I didn’t get anywhere near that. Ryan said he would bring up my situation in their floor meeting, but he couldn’t guarantee anything. Then I finally heard from him a week later, saying that they wanted documentation, proof that my husband is unable to work.
I had contacted my coach Brian Bollard on Tuesday about our session that I would have to miss on Thursday due to my husband going in for surgery. He sent me an email asking when I could reschedule, I told him I wasn’t sure as I was quite busy preparing for that, and I would let him know, but as of right now lets cancel that session.
Thursday rolled around, and I received an email from Brian regarding our “missed session” (the one I notified him about 2 days prior) and there was a note on my account, that I had contacted Prosper about canceling so he was going to go ahead and unschedule the rest of my sessions. I was shocked that I paid thousands and thousands of dollars for services that never met my expectations in what Nick Masina described, and that just because I had contacted them about canceling they would just unschedule the rest of my services that I am STILL paying for and not receiving.
I ended up launching a website telling people about my experience with Prosper Learning, and to beware of doing business with them. Only then was I contacted by Mike Vanchiere, Manager of the Student Care Center. He was rude, overbearing and said “I can’t believe that you would launch a slanderous website against us when we were willing to work with you.” It’s weird that only then, I was connected with Mike, because if the Student “Care” Center actually cared, why wouldn’t they connect me with him immediately?
