Hold A Fantastic Kid’s Party Using Project Management- Part One
If you’re a parent, odds are, you’ll have organised a children’s party or two in your day and I’m sure I do not have to tell you that organizing a party can often be a ticket to Stress City. Aside from all the hard work that goes into setting up an event like this, there isn’t any guarantee that it will turn out to be a success because there are so many variables, ranging from the freak hailstorm that finds your house during the party to the tantrum a kid throws because he hates yellow balloons. Obviously, there isn’t any strategy to prevent these unforeseeable happenings but you will have total control over staging the event itself, though it’s of little consolation if the party you labored so hard to arrange is a snore fest. There’s nothing worse than having a lot of snotty six-year-olds, green around the gills from eating too many marshmallows, complaining to their mothers regarding the less-than-mind-blowing amusement they experienced at your child’s party. But before you take out an additional bond to head off being labeled as a party blooper, there’s an easy way to effectively hosting a kids’ party simply by applying a few elementary project management techniques ahead of time. In project management circles, planning is considered to be far more important compared to the actual implementation of an undertaking and is also the focus of Part One of our article the way to throw a successful children’s party. Here’s how you can do it:
Begin in advance
The key to arranging a fantastic party is always to get started well in advance. You don’t have to start on the day your offspring come into the world, three months before your child’s birthday is usually a reasonable time frame, and by ‘start’ I mean start thinking about what you are going to do. Some folk love holding parties and are also natural party planners; they make it look so easy, as if they just whipped it up overnight, and tend to have the finest parties. But any successful party planner will tell you that an apparently straightforward party is always the result of a considerable amount of advance planning.
Brainstorm
Buy a notebook and make note of ideas when they come to you. At this stage, you should be all about brainstorming ideas and letting your imagination run wild. The most important thing is to get ideas and jot them down on paper, even if they’re over-the-top or extravagant, it is easy to rework them later on. If you’re short of ideas, you can get them to find you. Loaning books on children’s parties from your nearby library is a good starting point, as is making an internet search for children’s party ideas. Simultaneously, make a list of the themes that you are aware have already been used at any of your kid’s friend’s parties and avoid them because they’ve been done before.
Get help
It’s always easier to take on a task when you have additional hands, and minds, to help you so enlist help if possible. Mothers and mothers-in-law make good helpers as they have considerable of experience; hopefully you have a good relationship with yours.
Draw up an event management plan
When you have an idea for a party that you want, you need to write up an event management plan. The plan should include the date, venue and who’ll be invited in addition to a description of the theme and whether you’re planning to rent a magician, a jumping castle, or possibly a pony, for instance. Then make a list of what you have to do for the party and copy it to a table showing dates of when you’re going to do all of it. Allow a block of time at the start to do research on the feasibility of your idea and to draw up a budget. By doing this, you’ll avoid running over budget and spending time on tasks that you later scrap because the idea behind them wasn’t feasible.
