Finding your very own Style in your Front Yard
If you were asked to picture an American suburb, your mental picture is probably going to be very similar to everyone else’s. You would picture a perfectly paved street lined with two story houses. Two car garages are outside with cement driveways thirty feet apart from each other. Green grass in unnatural boxes is in the front of every home and each house is painted in either eggshell or white. But this is the inescapable American dream and we really shouldn’t be complaining. We love individuality here and if you do live in a suburb like the one described above, there are quite a few things you can do to make your home stand out from the rest. For example, a roaming gnome that has a story attached will make your home stand out already. The insides of all these homes will look very different, but many of us don’t focus on the outside. If you think about it, your front yard is the one thing that people see when they walk passed your house. It’s your canvas and you can paint it in a way that will make people look twice and smile at it.
For starters, decorating your front yard with some flare should be the next thing on your list of home improvement tasks. Getting a fancy weather vane will make your home look sophisticated and it will also give off a vintage look that’s not found often these days. Repainting your home can also be a great option to make your home stand out a little more than your neighbors’. This doesn’t mean that you should paint it fire engine red or racecar yellow. But color is definitely a unique form of expression that can make you feel like your home is really yours. If you feel like your home is blending in a little too much, painting it is definitely a quick solution.
Beautiful plants and decorations like garden gnomes are also great options for creatively painting the canvas that is your yard. If you’ve just purchased a home, the front yard usually looks very generic. There are usually some bushes, pebbles, and maybe a tree or two that look very similar to the rest of the houses on the block. But with some simple landscaping, your front yard can look like a flower garden that came right out of an impressionist painting. Don’t let your home look like everyone else’s.
