In many parts of the world water is contaminated with potential life threatining diseases so care must be taken to ensure that the water quality is assessed before consumption.Water may contain lead or any other metals depending on the source. A simple way to establish this is to ensure that the water is boiled and then allowed to cool before drinking. This will ensure that any issues with bacteria in the water will be eradicated therefore making the water safe for consumption. If you are fortunate enough to live in a part of the world where water is not as much of an issue then simply filtering the water will be sufficient for your purposes.
As a final note it is worth considering that water plays a huge role in any fitness program. If you are not taking on board enough water then not only is dehydration a potential issue but you also run the risk of not burning off enough calories as the metabolism is not able to function efficiently.
