Search Optimising your Google Place Page

Since the 21st of October when Google changed the way we viewed local search results, it now not only depends on the information on your page but also on the information it pulls from 3rd party sites and other presences you have on the net.

First you will need to sign into your Google Places account. If you haven’t done that yet do a search for ‘Google Places’ and create an account or log into your existing one.

Once logged in you can see the information your listing currently displays and you have the opportunity to edit the account information. Do not try to simply add areas or categories or keywords for the sake of adding it. Its best to keep the information succinct, correct and most importantly relevant to your business.

Its important that you proactively seek reviews where people rank and rate your business as well as providing coupons for potential users. With Google’s recent interest in Coupon related sites, its no surprise that these will effect the rankings and the importance that will be places on your own Google Place listing.

The information on your current site is also important and a strong site linked to your Google Places account will also aid in helping the performance of your Google Place page.
