We’ve put together a list of the top 10 things to do for students in NYC to help you get started. 1. Catch A Yankees Game: Nothing says summer like baseball. Hear the crack of the bat and get a tasty hot dog at the new Yankee stadium. Watching this baseball dynasty play at home is a great way to spend a summer afternoon in the sun.
2. Wander Through Outdoor Sculpture Exhibits At The Met: For time to time the Met has awesome sculpture exhibits outdoors. In the past exhibits have been placed in the Met’s garden adjacent to Central Park and the Met has also placed exhibits on the roof of the museum. Either outdoor location offers a cool venue to take in some culture while enjoying a beautiful summer day near your NYC student residence.
3. Chill Out In The Park: From Central Park, Battery Park, and Washington Square Park to the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, NYC is filled with lush parks and open spaces to escape the hustle and bustle of the city, without leaving the five boroughs. The extensive park system is one of the coolest things about NYC, you can play soccer, ride your bike or skateboard, go for a jog, or just lay around and get a tan.
4. Take In A View Of The City: Summer is the perfect time to go to the top of Rockefeller Center and see the city from 70 stories up, or check out the classic Empire State Building, you’ll probably be able to see your EHS student housing from the observation deck.
5. Central Park Summer Stage: Join your fellow New Yorkers in Central Park for evenings filled with live music, festivals and dance performances from brands big and small throughout the summer.
6. Shakespeare In The Park: This a really unique opportunity to see Shakespeare’s classics like Twelfth Night and The Bacchae performed in the open air under the stars in Central Park.
7. Free Good Morning America Tapings And Concerts: Only a short ways away from your EHS housing you can attend weekly free concerts sponsored by Good Morning America showcasing the artists at the top of the pop charts.
8. Hit The Beach: The chic Hamptons or someplace closer on Long Island or in New Jersey. There are many beautiful beaches near your student housing in NYC, and you’d be a fool to let the summer pass you by with out a swim in the surf.
9. Explore The Nightlife: You can’t study all the time, so after you’ve hit the books the possibilities to go out and have fun are endless. From trendy dance clubs, guarded by velvet ropes and rather large dudes, to exclusive lounges and chill neighborhood bars, you’ll find what you’re looking for in the Meatpacking District, Chelsea, Flatiron District, or the West Village.
10. Go Shopping: Along with Paris, New York City is a fashion capital of the world. Find hip and trendy shopping in Soho, or walk through the high end department stores on 5th Avenue like Bergdorf Goodman, Barneys New York, and Bloomingdale’s. Spend a summer day away from your NYC student residence shopping your way through fifteen blocks of high-coture designers and flagship stores found along Madison Avenue that include Calvin Klein, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Giorgio Armani, Prada, Herm?s, Chanel, and Polo.
