Purchase a Home Using a Government Grant? Not Quite True
You’ve most likely seen the ads on night time television, hinting that the U.S. government will give you money to purchase a house, or a car or cash to get rid of your credit card debt. These advertisements go on to inform you that if you call the toll-free number, Company X will tell you how to get that mansion, sports car, or debt free lifestyle. Are these claims a scam? Does the government actually give cash away for cars, boats, or debt consolidation? Is the U.S. government planning to give you a Rolls Royce?
The answer is complicated, but the quick response is no. Sorry, but Washington is not going to pay for you to live down the street to Paris Hilton, nor are they likely to fund your yacht. On the other hand, Washington does hand out vast amounts of dollars each and every year for all types of applications, and yes, people like you can take advantage of these grants. There are grants for education, especially higher schooling for women and members of minority groups. Presently there are grants for certain types of housing, particularly if you wish to restore houses in a troubled community. There are grants or loans for small companies, especially those held by minorities.
Grants for these types of initiatives that benefit society in general are available from both government and from private sources. A lot of individuals qualify for such funds without recognizing it. Just about all you have to do is submit an application for it. Here again is a place where the ads are a bit deceptive. You cannot just put your name and address on a list and look for the money truck to arrive at your doorway the next day. There is a process for obtaining grant money and that process can occasionally be rather complicated. The good news is, lots of help is readily available for those who are interested. There are lots of resources which will offer assistance either for hire or for no cost for those who need assistance in the application process.
The ideal thing to do if you are thinking about obtaining government grant money is to do a little Internet research. There are Websites that can tell you what kinds of grants or loans are available, who qualifies for them, and exactly what the conditions are for obtaining them. Once you invest a few hours submerging yourself in the topic, you’ll notice that it is not really all that complex and chances are good that you will be able to find some sort of financing for which you are eligible.
As was mentioned in the first paragraph, the late night television commercials about grant money are considerably deceptive. These advertisers make it sound like you can just submit an application and obtain a free mansion, or a debt consolidation loan, or some symbol of luxury that will wow your friends. That isn’t possible. But you could be capable of getting money to restore an old house or help with an university degree or assistance in starting that online business you’ve wished to build. Those are things of value, and the government is willing to help. All you must do to reap the benefits of that help is to take action.
