Who would need duty gloves and why?

Duty gloves are something that most people wouldn’t need, or do they. If you think about it, there are some professions where you would immediately think they needed Duty gloves. The obvious are firefighters, police, forensics officers and medical teams.

Given that there are numerous professions that would need Duty gloves, you would expect them to be expensive and not readily available. However, this is not the case; there are some fabulous ranges of Duty gloves that would suit many professionals in their line of work. Many brands of gloves have some very specific features. Many gloves for first responders will have anti-microbial elements built in which helps prevent the growth of harmful bacteria and ensures the gloves don’t develop any kind of bacterial odor.

Obviously, the kind of Duty gloves used by a firefighter would be different to those used by a medical person. The firefighters gloves would need to resist heat and be fire retardant. They would also need the anti bacterial qualities of other Duty gloves. 5.11, Boyt, Hatch and CamelBak are just a few of the well-known suppliers of Duty gloves. There will be times when police officers need protection and a pair of Hatch Streetguard gloves with 9oz Kevlar lining would give them very good protection.

Of course, it isn’t just professionals such as police and firefighters that need protective gloves. Construction workers work in dangerous and hazardous conditions and often come into contact with sharp items. The same Hatch gloves would be ideal for them. The beauty of Duty gloves is that they are manufactured to high standards and offer specialists protection, warmth and full dexterity when the gloves are on. A normal pair of woolen gloves just wouldn’t be enough to either protect or keep warm in some conditions.

With respect of keeping hands warm, there is no reason why we could not have some Duty gloves. A pair of Boyt insulated waterproof leather gloves would get anyone through any cold winter months in comfort. Within the duty glove range there is a massive choice and whatever your job entails there will be gloves ideal for you. If it were just a plain and simple pair of leather gloves you want, then Duty gloves would probably not be for you, and would be a high priced item if you had no specific use for them.

A pair of Duty gloves that offer lightweight wear, threaded with Kevlar for cut protection and flame resistance with leather reinforcements to high wear areas are obviously a more specialist glove. Wiley X makes such gloves and these can be custom designed to match military uniform, so they are for a very specialized use. If you want superior protection for your hands then a pair of Duty gloves could be just what you need. Any hand injury can be disastrous no matter what your job is, so protecting our hands is a wise and prudent thing to do.
