Importance Of Salat In Quran

The Glorious Quran is a divine book revealed by Allah Almighty for the entire humankind. It contains a complete code of life. The people who follow it are the blessed ones among all the other people.

The Quran clearly specifies two types of rights. The first type is called the Haqooq ul Ibad i.e. the right of people on the people. The second type is known as Haqooq Allah, which means the rights of Allah Almighty on His human creation. The Salat is one of the rights of Allah Almighty on the humankind.

A Muslim should always remember that the Salat is one of the five pivotal pillars of the religion of Islam. The rest of the four pillars are the belief on Tauheed, the Hajj, the Fasting, and the Zakat. Without these five pillars of Islam, the faith of a Muslim cannot be completed.

Some people think and say that the regular observance of Slat is extremely difficult. However if a person remain steadfast on his or her faith, it does not remain that difficult. The Quran recognizes this fact in the following words of the Allah Almighty.

You shall seek help through steadfastness and the Contact Prayers (Salat). This is difficult indeed, but not so for the reverent. Quran [2:45]

The Glorious Quran has mentioned the importance of prayers and the necessary rituals to do along with it or before it several times. Ablution is necessary (a Farz) before offering the prayers or saying the slat.

The glorious Quran, in this regard, says,

O children of Adam, you shall be clean and dress nicely when you go to the Masjid. And eat and drink moderately; Surely, He does not love the gluttons. Quran [7:31]

Along with the above-mentioned things, it is a very noticeable fact that in several places the Quran mentions the Slat along with mentioning the Zakat and the charity. It implies that it is also as noble a deed as charity is. When praying do not make the voice too high or too low.

Say, “Call Him GOD, or call Him the Most Gracious; whichever name you use, to Him belongs the best names.” You shall not utter your Contact Prayers (Salat) too loudly, nor secretly; use a moderate tone. Quran [17:110]

The Holy Quran has also defined the direction for the Muslims of the entire world to pray.

“Wherever you go, you shall turn your face (during Salat) towards the Sacred Masjid. This is the truth from your Lord. God is never unaware of anything you all do.” Quran [2:149]

The importance of the Friday prayer is given in the Quran in the following words,

“O you who believe, when the Salat is announced on Friday, you shall hasten to the commemoration of God, and drop all business. This is better for you, if you only knew. Once the prayer is completed, you may spread through the land to seek God’s bounties, and continue to remember God frequently, that you may succeed.” Quran [62:9-10]
