Minced Meat Recipe with no Ground Beef
Did you read the subject properly?. You must be thinking: “This woman has gone mad” How on earth can you have a mince meat recipe without the main ingredients?”
Well the answer is honestly undeniable: This recipe begun off as usual but then I realized that the beef I acquired roughly an hour before had a real moldy smell after taking it out of the container. That beef ended up in the trash bin but I had visitors on the way, All my other preperation handiwork were done and no mince beef. I had to think out of the box.
Green, yellow and red peppers, chopped onions, white button mushrooms, yellow corn, chopped-up half cooked potato pieces, thick sliced tomato, thin carrot sticks salt and lemon pepper, fresh mustard, chopped garlic flakes, real butter (you can also use margarine) and a beef stock cube was al lying ready for use on my counter but I had no beef to use and I had visitors on the way. Disaster mode kicked in. I was scared and I knew I had to do something and I had to do it speedy.
It was late and not within my local butcher’s selling hours so I could not get a replacement that day. I had to make a plan. Now, I’m sure you all know what meal replacements are. There are loads of them and lots of reading material published about the subject and it’s a generally known fact that you can alternate minced meat with minced soy beans or other ground meat, but I did not make use any of those well known replacements. .
And while I’m on the subject of food replacements, here’s a list of the things you can use in your cookery:
Dried Basil = Parsley, thyme or oregano.
Long-grain white rice = Basmati rice.
Whiskey=Bourbon
Savoy Cabbage / Chinese Cabbage / Green Cabbage = Brussel Sprouts
Chopped green olives = Capers
Cayenne pepper = Hot red pepper / chilli powder
Celery = Green pepper / bean sprouts
Green onion tops / leeks / onion powder = Chives
Basil = Mint
Cognac or Whiskey = Brandy
Morel Mushrooms = Matsuke / Oyster mushrooms
Club Soda = Mineral Water
Paprika = Tumeric with dash of red pepper
Sherry=Port
Rabbit = Chicken
Ground beef = ground turkey / ground pork / ground veal / ground lamb (I did not use any of these)
Ok so where was I? Oh yes, the soy beans… I did not want soy beans, pork, veal, lamb nor turkey so I had to make one more plan.
Do you want to knowwhat I have used in the place of my bad-smelling ground beef? I have posted a link to the answer in my signature. I suspect that I am going to cut down of my meat and make more use of this not so secret ingredient. The result tasted very good. Go ahead and try it out for your family and let me know how you feel about this recipe.
