Certainly, from the one side, professional skills require scientific knowledge with its methods of research, theory and practice, hypothesis, etc., however, from the other side it is an art. Art of caring, loving, giving and receiving, understanding, listening, giving advice is nothing else, but professional philosophy. Without these features a [professional would not be connected with a job. Intervention Services and Technologies, Inc provides intervention services and psychological help for addicts and alcoholics. The aim of the organization is to support patients and their families on the short-term and long-term bases. And only such kind of connection that involves understanding and loving can make “miracles” healing body and mind and soul, whereas bare application of theory can heal only body and only to some limited extent. For Intervention Services and Technologies philosophy is not only a science and it is not only an art, it is both of them (Intervention Services and Technologies 2009).
The selected organization will help me master such skills as communication, caring and problem solving, and increase my professional knowledge and abilities. Just the same thing can be told about societies for professional workers. This fact can help people to evolve under given circumstance. This group of people is help together by the common interest of providing care to their patients. The same thing can be told about the environment in which the people are living (Moon and Moon, 2001). The same thing pertains to the case with person’s spiritual awareness, emotions and thoughts that have already been told about the current situation. The practice in this organization combines some theoretical knowledge with artistic skills. It needs to be science as it has to have solid theoretical knowledge tested during years of practice, to be researched and learned all the time to keep pace with technical progress. It needs to be an art as caring can not be researched or tested it either is present or is absent at all. Without art of loving, understanding, and listening it would be a dry science and it would not lead to progressive healing of patients. As a professional I need to train and to learn in both fields in science and in art of every profession. Professional learning never ends.
The knowledge of these abilities will help me to become a real professional in my field and apply theoretical knowledge successfully. Professional knowledge in intervention services is multidimensional paradigm that consists of four concepts: the patient, the environment, the professional itself and the interrelation of those three. A patient as a representative of human society plays important role in professional philosophy, as a student does in learning-teaching process.
