Flood relief package for credit union members
Queenslanders Credit Union have announced a flood relief package for members affected by last week’s floods.
Included in the package is an opportunity to defer repayments on home loans, personal loan and car loans for up to three months and a waiver of any late fees for missed repayments.
Queenslanders CEO John Weier said the Flood Relief initiative would be offered to all impacted members.
“As a member-focussed financial institution, Queenslanders is concentrating on helping our members in practical ways that will positively impact on them and the communities we all live and work in,” he said.
“This has been a devastating time for many Queenslanders and we are committed to helping as many people as possible through this difficult period in their lives.”
Queenslanders have also waived interest penalties for early term deposit redemption, establishment fees on personal loans and car loans for replacement of items damaged in the flood, and the replacement card fee for lost or stolen debit cards.
Queenslanders Credit Union Branch Network Manager Therese Devin who is based in Ipswich, said her staff, some of whom were affected directly by the flood, had been doing their best to assist members.
“Most people who are coming in at the moment are just in a state of shock,” she said.
“We want our members to know that we are there to listen and help them in any way we can.”
Queenslanders’ members requiring the special relief measures should call QConnect on 1800 753 377 or visit their local branch to learn more.
