Facts on the HP LaserJet 1200 Printer

The base models are C7044A, the 1200 SE, model C7047A, and the LaserJet 1200n. While incorporating the network set-up bundle, the 1200n is best for it’s task, but also a mention should be made on the 1220 series which is actually a variation, the special edition of the 1200 printers.

The 1220SE and 1220 are combos, they incorporate a scanner, a printer and a copier as well. They come with an extra of software and hardware, an addition to the special edition of the 1200 printer. Those abilities can be added at a further date by means of purchasing a stand alone peripheral – the C7046A. It is, of course, perfectly compatible with the HO LaserJet 1200 printer.

HP is a pioneering company, it has brought the laser printer to the mass market. This was started back in 1984. It has come to be known by the name of LaserJet , and it was the first printer to use laser for the PC. It’s processor ran at eight MHz and it printed eight pages per minute. Also, the memory of 128 kB was used in tandem with the controller.

It could not print graphics at the time, it was not the time for such endeavors, but the original LaserJet could handle lines very easily. They were solid lines, not dotted. Also, because it’s basic contours were very solid, the LaserJet was capable of printing detailed characters, a chief attraction of HP’s new model of printer.Currently, models like the 1200 are able to draw photo-quality graphics. It’s also an ability generated by the use of 15MB of hard drive space that it now has at it’s disposal. A model like the 1220 uses even more, one hundred and sixty, to be more precise.

The HP Laserjet 1200 printer can be ported with the use of of an USB port. It also has the option of using a parallel port that is bi-directional and that complies with one of the two standards, either ECP or IEEE 1284. No other ports can be used.

There were different reasons why the production of the second series, the LaserJet Series two, which began in 1987 was considered an important event. It represented a step towards the introduction of the laser printer to the general public and one of the most important reasons for that was the drop in price which it had undergone, finding a spot below the three thousand dollar range, and so finding it’s segment in the SME part of the business market.

One more change in the product, it’s reduction in size, came to the market in the fall of 1989. It was called LaserJet IIP and it was meant for the consumers at large. While it was half the size of the original, it sold about half more than the original did.

The 1200 can print with the same speed even if it is unmodified, as a base model, but also if it is outfitted as a 1220 model. It runs for fourteen pages a minute while using legal-size paper and letter-size prints are a bit faster, going for fifteen pages a minute.

Hewlett-Packard is also very admirable in it’s attention and concern for the environment. The 1200 printer is testament to their care, in that the printer had the ability to lower consumption when the unit was idle.

Toner handling was also done in such a way as to promote awareness for the environment concerns. For instance there is an Econo-Mode implemented as a setting that is grounded towards the use of internal documents. The quality of the prints is lower, but it can always be reverted to normal when the situation demands it. Also recycling is done for pieces of plastic over 25 g, which are marked appropriately. Another feature is the ability to perform a manual duplex print, and also a reducer that facilitates more printings on the same page.
