Valentine’s Day fun in London

Forget Paris, some say London is the romance capital of the world. With romantic hotspots everywhere, there are lots to do on Valentine’s Day.

Take to the sky

Nothing says ‘I love you’ like a Champagne flight on the London Eye. Whisk your loved one off their feet, with a 30 minute ride that comes complete with a glass of chilled Pommery Brut Royal Champagne, a rose and chocolates for each couple. This Valentine’s Day, fliers will be serenaded from below by a singing trio, as they gaze over London’s river Thames. Valentine’s Champagne Flights are available from Feb 11 to 14. Online adult tickets cost £31.54 (inc VAT). Visit http://bit.ly/dQtNLC

Dine on the Thames

Have a Valentine’s evening to remember with dinner and a cruise on the Thames on the London Showboat. Enjoy a four-course meal while being serenaded with songs from the musicals, then dance the night away, as you float past the city’s historic landmarks, including the Houses of Parliament and the Tower of London, lit up. The three and a half hour cruise includes a welcome drink, half a bottle of wine with dinner and a sumptuous dinner. The London Showboat departs from Westminster Pier at 7.30pm. Whisper sweet nothings

It’s the most iconic building on London’s skyline and St Paul’s Cathedral is also the perfect setting for a romantic rendezvous. Climb up inside the dome to the Whispering Gallery, which has amazing acoustics. If you whisper to your loved one from one side, they’ll be able to hear it on the other side, some 100 feet away. Another 271 steps up, you’ll reach the Golden Gallery at the very top of the dome. Here you can take in some incredible views across the river, taking in the Tate Modern and Shakespeare’s Globe. The galleries are open Monday to Saturday until 4.15pm. Adult tickets cost £14.50. Visit: http://bit.ly/ig8kSg

Go stargazing

Take your special someone somewhere really special this Valentine’s Day. The Royal Observatory at Greenwich is putting on a special ‘racy’ planetarium show on Valentine’s Day, called An Evening with the Stars. Stand on the Prime Meridian of the world and gaze at the stars and there’s also a chance to look at the Moon through the 28-inch telescope. Each ticket includes a glass of bubbly and a red rose for each couple. Tickets cost £28 per person. Visit: http://bit.ly/fArqyN
