3 Types of Chemical Peels For Younger, Smoother, Healthier-Looking Skin
If you have facial blemishes, uneven skin pigmentation or wrinkles (deep and small) you may be a candidate for one of the chemical peels. Chemical peels are an advanced rejuvenation treatment used to aid the reversal of damage caused to skin as a result of ageing, acne, exposure to the sun or other factors. There are three major types of chemical peels. After an initial consultation with Dr Gray at MD Laser Spa, one of the three types of chemical peels will be recommended for you depending on the level of treatment you require.
Jessner’s peels are the mildest types of chemical peels. These peels provide brighter looking skin with a smoother texture. These peels are used for skin that is rough and dry. They smooth out skin and improve the texture of skin that has been damaged by over exposure to the sun. Jessner’s Peels also aid in controlling acne. If you have uneven skin pigmentation, the Jessner peel may be mixed with bleaching cream to correct the problem.
Several treatment sessions may be required before results become apparent. Treatments may be performed monthly or after longer intervals. Your skin will take on a natural healthy glow after the treatments. There is no downtime required for these types of chemical peels and they are sometimes used as pre-treatment for TCA peels.
TCA peels (Trichloroacetic acids) are medium depth types of chemical peels. They are usually used to get rid of fine surface wrinkles, pigmentation problems and superficial problems. Two or three treatments may be required before results become apparent and pain medication may be required after the treatment. Your skin will be noticeably smoother after the treatment and take on a fresh look. The results of this treatment last longer than the with Jessner’s types of chemical peels.
The final type of chemical peels is the phenol peels. These are the deepest types of chemical peels as well as the strongest. Only one treatment session is required for these peels to produce the desired effects and they involve a downtime of at least one week. These treatments are only prescribed to patients with severely sun damaged skin, blotchy areas and coarse facial wrinkles. Phenol also has the side effect of lightening the patient’s skin tone. Your skin tone will therefore have to be considered before the treatment is administered.
MD Laser Spa professionals are well trained and qualified to administer all types of chemical peels. Your progress will be closely monitored throughout the treatment period as well as recovery period. You will be in the safest hands you could hope for.
