My first Asian wedding

I received an invitation to a wedding from my very close friend; it’s her little sister’s big day. I’m really excited but very nervous at the same time as it will be the first Asian wedding I’ll be attending. The invitation said I can take a guest with me, so I will definitely make sure I have someone with me as I don’t want to be on my own at any time.

Asian weddings last for a week but they have two main events on two separate days, before the big day they have an evening where the bride will decorate her hands with temporary tattoo called ‘Henna’. It’s also a night of spending time with the family before she leaves to start her new life with her husband.

I asked my best friend to attend the wedding with me; I also decided to wear an Indian outfit so I don’t feel out of place. My friend didn’t mind being out of place, so he’s sticking to his black suit with tie. Now my hunt to find the right Indian outfit had begun.

I met up with my friend for coffee yesterday, she was saying how organising the wedding is really stressing her out and she would really like it if her family actually helped out a bit. Being a good friend, I offered my services to her; she refused at first but soon came round.

She asked me if I could find her a fruit supplier in Kent , as they use the fruits to create features which are then placed on large plates and used on the evening before the wedding day.
