More awards for the Audi A1
When Audi released the A1, many in the car industry said it would win many awards in its lifetime, wonder if they thought it would win three very prestigious awards in its first year! What Car? voted the premium supermini as the “Car of the Year” for 2011, it was also voted “Supermini of the Year”, and at last year’s award it won “Most Exciting Car of the Year” award.
The judges at What Car? were full of praise for the car, they said the A1 looks and feels every inch a bespoke premium product, which shouts quality whatever you touch and feel. The panel of judges were quite confident that for the price you cannot get any better than the A1.
Steve Fowler, Editor-in-Chief of What Car?, explained: “The Audi A1 is a brilliant car: brilliantly targeted and brilliantly executed. More and more buyers are looking for smaller, more efficient cars, but with all the luxury trappings of much larger cars. That’s exactly what Audi has given them – a super-stylish, high quality small car that’s affordable and great fun, too.”
Jeremy Hicks, Director of Audi UK said: “It’s an incredible honour for the A1 to win three What Car? awards in its debut year. We were naturally thrilled when it won the Most Exciting Car of the Year award in 2010, but for it to win the Supermini category and then the Car of the Year award overall in 2011 is extraordinary.”
The award is great news for Audi, the German manufacturer has seen a resurrection in its products popularity and if it continues to design and build cars like the A1 then there will be many more awards in its trophy cabinet, or cabinets.
The release of the much awaited Audi A7 is looming, it will showcase Audi’s technology advancements as well as fuel efficiency improvements. The new Audi A6 in Oxford is also due out this year which will again showcase Audi’s design and technology innovations.
