Waiting for our first child
My wife was due to give birth to our first child; we were really excited as we didn’t find out the sex of the child when she had her scans. We both agreed that it’s best to find out after the birth, not knowing the sex is much more exciting than knowing.
My wife had packed her overnight bag as well as the baby’s bag. Watching my wife pack the baby bag was so emotional, I felt scared and nervous at the thought of what my wife will have to go through when giving birth to our child.
We had planned our journey to the hospital, the quickest and safest way, we also made checklists of things to take on the day such as overnight bags, pillows, mobile phone, camera and camera memory cards. My wife made me buy a camcorder the week before as she wanted me to film the birth.
On the day our baby was due; I got the feeling the baby won’t be coming anytime soon as my wife was feeling absolutely fine. She had an appointment with the midwife early in the morning, who confirmed that the baby is not ready to enter the world yet.
My wife was now 3 days overdue, we had been in and out of the hospital at all hours of the day. My wife was already feeling very exhausted, so we were both worried about how she will get through the actual labour. A week after the due date, my wife finally gave birth to our beautiful little daughter.
